The Portuguese Political Science Association (APCP) is a legal entity of a scientific nature, dedicated to the development of Political Science in Portugal and to its integration into the international scientific community.
APCP brings together researchers, academics, students and professionals interested in the study of politics across all its branches and subfields.
The Association’s mission is to promote research, plural scientific debate and the dissemination of knowledge produced in the field of Political Science, thereby contributing to strengthening its presence in academic, institutional and public spheres, as well as to fostering dialogue with other disciplines, institutions, and national and international scientific communities.
To achieve these goals, the Association is also organised into a number of thematic sections. The APCP currently includes the following sections:

The University of Évora, one of Portugal’s oldest and most prestigious universities, combines centuries of academic tradition with a strong commitment to innovation, internationalisation, and scientific excellence. Located in a city designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it offers a unique environment for learning, research, and debate, where close interaction between academic staff, students, and researchers fosters a high-quality academic experience.
The hosting of the XIII APCP Congress at the University of Évora in 2027 is of particular significance. First, the University provides education and conducts research in areas directly related to Political Science and the Social Sciences, making it an ideal setting to welcome the scholarly community brought together by this Congress. Second, the Congress will take place in the year in which Évora will hold the title of European Capital of Culture, a distinction that further enhances the symbolic, cultural, and international dimensions of the event. In this context, participants will also have the opportunity to benefit from the city’s cultural programme, within an environment that promotes dialogue between science, culture, and society.
The Portuguese Political Science Association (APCP) and the University of Évora invite the national and international scientific community, as well as students, researchers, and practitioners working in or interested in Political Science, across all its areas and subfields, and the Social Sciences, to participate in the XIII APCP Congress by submitting proposals for individual papers or organised panels.
Proposals must be submitted through the personal area by 30 September 2026 and may be presented in Portuguese, English, or Spanish.
The Congress welcomes empirical, theoretical, methodological, and professional contributions, while also valuing interdisciplinary approaches that foster critical debate on contemporary political phenomena across the various domains of Political Science and related fields.
